Mahoba (UP), Apr 30 (UNI) Two youths were arrested for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in the Ajanar area of Mahoba district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Wednesday.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vandana Singh said that the incident took place late on Tuesday evening when the girl was returning home from the field late in the evening.

"Two youths of the same village caught her near the cremation ground and raped her. After committing the crime, the accused fled, threatening to kill the victim along with her family if she complained to the police about the incident. The victim girl is a student of class 8," she said.

She said that the girl reached home after a long time and informed her brother about the entire incident.

"The victim was taken to the police station, and a complaint was lodged about the incident. The police have registered a case against two youths of the village, Pramod and Prince," she said.

The ASP said that the police showed promptness and arrested both the accused and sent them to jail. "The case is being investigated by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Harshita Gangwar," she said.
