UP: Youth shot dead by unidentified miscreants in Barabanki

Barabanki (UP), Mar 30 (UNI) A 29-year-old youth, who went to intervene in a fight between others was shot by an unidentified miscreant in the City Kotwali area of Barabanki district here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, police sources said.
Sources said the incident took place in the evening on the Barabanki-Lucknow highway near Safedabad town where two youths going towards Lucknow in a jeep shot a youth riding a motorcycle. "Both miscreants fled from the spot after the incident," they said.
The sources said the police reached the spot soon and took the injured youth to the district hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.
"On the basis of the Aadhaar card found with the deceased, he was identified as Sumit Ojha, a resident of Fatehganj locality under Naka police station in Lucknow," they said.
Circle Officer (CO) Sumit Tripathi said during the investigation it was revealed that the youths riding the jeep were having a dispute with a tempo driver over turning the vehicle. "During this, Sumit, who was present there, intervened, due to which the miscreants shot him. "The matter is being investigated," he said.
He said the police are searching for the killers with the help of CCTV footage and the number of the jeep found at the scene of the incident. UNI XC AB SSP
