Jammu, Apr 8 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for the second consecutive day on Tuesday witnessed pandemonium over Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 demanding discussion in the House.
As soon as the House proceedings resumed, PDP MLA Waheed Para demanded a debate on the Waqf Bill.
The uproar started when Para demanded a debate, which was disallowed by the Speaker Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather.
Meanwhile, National Conference MLAs also stood on their seats and created uproar demanding a debate.
Para stormed into the well of the House and amidst pandemonium, he (PDP MLA) was marshalled out of the House.
People's Conference President and MLA Sajjad Gani Lone launched an attack on the National Conference legislators stating that on one hand, they (National Conference MLAs) are demanding a debate on the Waqf Bill in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly but simultaneously, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is seen clicking pictures in the Tulip Garden Srinagar with the Union Minister of the government that passed the bill.
Notably, the pictures of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah were trending on the social media platforms.
Amidst uproar in the Assembly, many National Conference MLAs stood up on the benches but some tore papers and tossed them towards the Chair.
The MLAs continued shouting slogans in the House demanding a debate on the Bill.
Lone said that the National Conference cannot play the role of ruling party or the opposition.
He said that if the National Conference MLAs want to debate on this bill and the Speaker is not agreeing, then they should bring a 'no confidence motion' against the Speaker.
He stated that the Speaker should be replaced with the one who allows the debate in the House.
Meanwhile, National Conference MLA Salman Sagar coming in the support of the Speaker, said that there is no need to change the Speaker, rather sensitivity of the matter can be explained to him.
The Speaker however, amidst pandemonium, adjourned the House till 1 PM.
