WAVES summit: Fadnavis meets global media honchos

Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday met top executives of global media giants and discussed ways to develop skills in the media and entertainment sector.
Among those Fadnais met were Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos, Universal Music Group India and South Asia Chairman and CEO Devraj Sanyal and Motion Picture Association Chairman and CEO Charles Rivkin.
The meeting between the state government and leading international media and entertainment organisations discussed the global dissemination of the state’s cultural heritage and opening up new avenues for skill development.
Netflix Co-CEO Sarandos clarified that India has a huge opportunity in the entertainment sector in the next five years and India will be an important market. Possible collaboration between Netflix and the state government for skill development in the media and entertainment sector in Maharashtra was also discussed on this occasion.
Sarandos praised the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and congratulated the Central Government and the Government of Maharashtra for organising the WAVES-2025 Summit.
Meanwhile, Devraj Sanyal, President and CEO of India and South Asia, Universal Music Group, actor-director and founder of Excel Entertainment Farhan Akhtar and Co-founder and Producer Ritesh Sidhwani met Fadnavis at his residence and congratulated the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Government of Maharashtra for the successful organisation of the summit.
