Srinagar, May 6 (UNI) Amid the escalating border tension, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Member Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said they want the Union government to give a strong response to the Pahalgam attack.
Owaisi, who launched a scathing attack against Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, described the assault on tourists as an act of sheer brutality.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Owaisi said the terrorists from Pakistan took the lives of 26 civilians.
“This is a terrorist, cowardly attack, and no matter how much it is condemned, it is too little,” Owaisi said. “It is heartbreaking that terrorists from Pakistan took the lives of 26 innocent people…The most painful part is that they separated the women and children and asked the men to recite the Kalima. Those who could not were shot. This is sheer brutality.”
Owaisi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and highlighted the lasting impact it would have on Kashmir’s tourism sector and its people.
“The biggest loss from this is being borne by the people of Kashmir. A huge tourist crowd has now left,,” he said.
The AIMIM leader urged the Modi government to act decisively.
“We want our government to give a strong response to this (Pahalgam attack). We have already said this in the all-party meeting,” he added.
Owaisi also demanded a probe into the death of Kulgam youth who was picked up by security forces for questioning and his body was later found from a stream on Sunday.
“I have read in the media, I have read the statement of their relatives. There should be an inquiry into how he died,” the MP said.
