Will not make another "U" turn, Nitish says before PM

Will not make another

Madhubani, Apr 24 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday reiterated in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he would not make another "U" turn, a reference of his assurance for not deserting NDA again.

Kumar while addressing a public meeting in Madhubani district of Bihar, in presence of PM Modi, re-iterated that he would not desert NDA again. It was my mistake in deserting NDA and joining hands with RJD in August 22 and also on one more occasion earlier, he added.

Chief Minister said that on advice of some leaders of his party JD(U), he had committed the mistake in deserting

NDA and joining hands with RJD. One of the leaders who had given such advice, was present on the dais itself, he asserted in his own style pointing towards him.

Kumar's assurance before PM Modi for not deserting NDA, assumes significance as next assembly elections in Bihar would be held in October-November this year. Before Lok Sabha elections held in 2024, RJD leaders used to claim that all was not well in NDA and Chief Minister Kumar would join hands with them before next Bihar assembly elections. Few months back, RJD chief Lalu Prasad had also offered Chief Minister Kumar to come together for working in the interest of Bihar. Door for Nitish was always open, Lalu had remarked.

Kumar had first deserted NDA to join hands with RJD in 2013 and formed Grand Alliance government after 2015

assembly elections in Bihar. He had deserted Grand Alliance in 2017 to join hands with BJP for formation of NDA government. In August 2022, he again deserted NDA to join hands with RJD to form Grand Alliance government in Bihar. In January 2024, Kumar returned to NDA before Lok Sabha elections.
