World Red Cross Day celebrations held in Dharamshala- Artificial limbs distributed to differently abled

Dharamshala, May 8 (UNI)The Kangra District Red Cross Society on Thursday organised World Red Cross Day events across all sub-divisions of the district, with the central theme for this year being "In the Name of Humanity.
" The main programme was held at the Government College of Teacher Education in Dharamshala, where Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa inaugurated the celebrations.
A voluntary blood donation camp, a free dental check-up camp, and a general health check-up camp were organized as part of the day's events. As many as 50 donors voluntarily donated blood, 46 individuals availed free dental check-ups, and approximately 150 people benefitted from the free medical examination. Additional services such as blood pressure and diabetes screening were also provided at the camp.
All blood donors were felicitated with donor certificates and mementoes by the chief guest on behalf of the Red Cross Society.
In collaboration with the Meena Artificial Limb Centre, Dharamshala, differently-abled individuals were provided with artificial limbs, handed over personally by DC Hemraj Bairwa during the event.
Prizes were also distributed as part of the Red Cross Lucky Draw.
Simultaneously, blood donation camps were held in all sub-divisions of Kangra district, facilitated through respective sub-divisional officers. A total of 150 people donated blood voluntarily during these satellite events.
World Red Cross Day was also celebrated with enthusiasm across government and private schools in the district, where a variety of awareness and cultural programmes were organised.
