Yatnal accuses Karnataka BJP of betraying Hindus

Vijayapura, Mar 30 (UNI) Days after his expulsion from the BJP, Karnataka MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal on Sunday accused the party of failing to protect Hindu interests and hinted at launching a new political outfit dedicated to Hindutva.
Yatnal alleged that the state BJP had compromised its ideological core for political convenience, leaving many Hindu activists disillusioned. “Many Hindu workers have urged me to form a ‘Hindu Party’ as they no longer trust the BJP to safeguard their interests,” he told reporters in Vijayapura.
Despite his harsh criticism of the state leadership, Yatnal maintained that he still regarded the BJP as his “mother” and bore no animosity towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, he announced that he and his supporters would gauge public sentiment on forming a new political party, which, he suggested, could take shape on Vijayadashami.
Accusing the Karnataka BJP of engaging in “adjustment politics” with Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Yatnal claimed such backroom deals had alienated Hindu activists. His remarks come days after the BJP expelled him for six years over alleged repeated violations of party discipline. However, he dismissed the move as an attempt to silence his criticism of dynasty politics.
“People who strongly advocate Hindutva are being sidelined due to the selfishness of Yediyurappa’s son. I am being targeted today because of Vijayendra and Yediyurappa’s persistence in promoting dynastic politics,” he said, launching a scathing attack on BJP state president B Y Vijayendra.
Yatnal called upon the BJP leadership to take action against leaders engaging in “adjustment politics,” warning that Karnataka’s voters would lose faith in the party otherwise. He questioned why the BJP, which publicly opposes dynastic politics, continued to promote the Yediyurappa family.
He alleged that Vijayendra was involved in multiple scams and was responsible for Yediyurappa’s past legal troubles. “If the party wants to continue with a family that is embroiled in corruption, then Hindus and Hindu karyakartas in Karnataka will have to make a decision. We will start an awareness campaign on this issue from today itself,” he declared.
Yatnal insisted that he had not engaged in any indiscipline and demanded proof of the accusations against him. “I have never criticised Modi, opposed the BJP’s ideology, or attended any Congress or JD(S) meetings,” he asserted.
“I am not anti-BJP; I am anti-Yediyurappa. He has betrayed North Karnataka and suppressed leaders like me for his son’s political ambitions. I still consider BJP my mother,” he said defiantly. UNI BDN SSP
