'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' sets for theatrical re-release with unseen footage

Washington, Sep 29 (UNI) Fans of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' could soon have another chance to catch the blockbuster on the big screen, with Sony Pictures reportedly working on a theatrical re-release featuring previously unseen footage.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the re-release is expected to include a previously unseen scene featuring American actress Rosario Dawson that did not make it into the version released on July 31.
A date has not yet been confirmed for the potential re-release that is expected to include other unspecified footage, The Hollywood Reporter stated.
American filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton's 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' stars actors Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal and the film stands as the highest-grossing title ever at the domestic box office with more than $950 million.
Significantly, the movie ranks No.3 on the all-time worldwide chart with $2.49 billion.
Hailing from Marvel Studios, Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues chugging along at the box office, making a collection of $4.1 million domestically over the most recent weekend.
Moreover, the news comes after Marvel Studios' 'Avengers: Endgame: Encore' topped the domestic box office over the weekend, with the re-release of the 2019 blockbuster grossing $26 million and outperforming a slew of newcomers. The re-release was timed to build additional excitement for Disney's upcoming 'Avengers: Doomsday', which is scheduled for release on December 18.
At the time of July's fan event, Dawson told the crowd that she had filmed a scene for Brand New Day as Claire Temple — the Marvel character she previously portrayed on the series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders — but that it ended up on the cutting room floor, The Hollywood Reporter informed.
"My character is somewhere in that same universe, and I really love that," Dawson said at the event. "I hope I get to be Claire again," she added.
Notably, with 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' already on the verge of crossing the $1 billion mark at the North American box office, the planned re-release could give the blockbuster another boost and potentially help it reach the milestone. Endgame stands just above Brand New Day at No.2 on the global chart, with the former's recent return to theatres having brought its worldwide cume to $2.885 billion, Deadline reported on the re-release.'
