30 lakh houses approved under central govt's housing scheme: Maha minister

Pune, June 21 (UNI) Maharashtra Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jayakumar Gore said here on Saturday that 30 lakh houses have been approved in a year under the central government's scheme 'Houses for All'.

He said Rs 65,000 crores has been approved for this and 50 percent of the houses will be completed in a year under this. He praised the officials of the Rural Development Department for their good work.
He also said that both Maha Awas and Sant Gadge Baba Gram Swachhta campaigns are important for rural development and appealed that Gram Panchayats should play an important role for a clean, beautiful and plastic-free Maharashtra.
Gore said gram panchyats should be ready to participate in the Chief Minister's Samriddhi Gram Competition to be implemented soon by the government.
The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of Nirmal Wari organised at the Divisional Commissioner's Office and at the award distribution ceremony of Rashtra Sant Tukadoji Maharaj Swachh Gram Competition, Sant Gadge Baba Gram Swachhta Abhiyan and Maha Awas Yojana.

He said the government has provided sufficient funds to provide all facilities to the Warkars during Ashadhi Wari and emphasis is being placed on cleanliness at the palanquin base and on the route.
Arrangements have been made for seven lakh raincoats. Mobile clinics, medical kits, women's bathrooms, alternative routes and massage arrangements for elderly warkaris have been made since this year.
