ACB catches two Sub-Treasury officers accepting Rs 1 lakh bribe

Hyderabad, Sep 17 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday caught a Sub-Treasury Officer, Assistant Treasury Officer and a private person red-handed while accepting Rs 1 lakh bribe at the Divisional Sub-Treasury Office, Chevella, in Rangareddy district.
According to the ACB statement, Madiga Laxmaiah, Sub-Treasury Officer (AO-1), and Kavali Anuradha, Assistant Treasury Officer (AO-2), allegedly demanded Rs 2.50 lakh from the complainant and accepted a part payment of Rs 1 lakh for processing and forwarding his suspension-period salary bills amounting to Rs 23.25 lakh and post-retirement pension adjustment arrears of Rs 4.29 lakh.
It said that Laxmaiah accepted Rs 50,000 for himself, while, on the instructions of Anuradha, private person Vadde Jangaiah alias Chinna (A-3) accepted the remaining Rs 50,000.
The entire tainted amount of Rs 1 lakh was recovered at the instance of the accused. The ACB alleged that the officials had acted improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
All three accused were being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. The complainant's identity has been withheld for security reasons.
