Ambedkar ensured voting rights for all sections, says Telangana CM Revanth Reddy

New Delhi/Hyderabad, Nov 1 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday said Dr B R Ambedkar had ensured voting rights for Dalits, Adivasis, women and youth, strengthening the foundations of Indian democracy.
Speaking to the media before proceeding to Ramlila Maidan from Telangana Bhavan along with ministers and Congress leaders to participate in the 'Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao' rally, he said there were earlier attempts to restrict voting rights to the wealthy and upper classes, but Ambedkar ensured equal voting rights for all eligible citizens.
Revanth Reddy alleged that the BJP was attempting to weaken the Constitution and reservations, and deprive Dalits, Adivasis and women of their voting rights.
Referring to the BJP's earlier slogan of securing 400 seats, he alleged that there was a larger conspiracy to undermine constitutional safeguards.
Targeting the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the Chief Minister alleged that 13.5 crore votes had already been deleted and claimed that there were attempts to remove another seven crore votes.
He further accused the BJP of seeking to influence electoral outcomes by deleting 15 to 20 per cent of votes across the country.
He also alleged that votes had been deleted to facilitate the formation of governments in Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal, and claimed that similar attempts were being made to remove the votes of poor people to retain power at the Centre.
Calling upon people from all parts of the country to join the protest at Ramlila Maidan, Revanth Reddy questioned attempts to disrupt train services to prevent Congress workers from Telangana from reaching Delhi.
He said thousands had nevertheless made their way to the national capital despite the disruptions.
He asserted that the collective voice of the people would compel Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to respond to the concerns over electoral rights.
