ANEC Trust seeks independent vigilance probe into forest land encroachment, illegal assignments along Malayora Highway

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 3 (UNI) ANEC Trust has sought an independent vigilance investigation into alleged irregularities in land assignments, cancellation of land titles and possible violations of forest conservation laws in connection with the construction and widening of the Malayora Highway in Thrissur district.
In a complaint submitted to senior Forest Department authorities, the Trust has raised concerns over two stretches of the highway — from Randukai to Chaayippankuzhi via Veeranchira and from Chaayippankuzhi to Vettillappara — alleging that questions remain over the legal status of land and the statutory clearances obtained for the infrastructure project.
The representation has particularly flagged the reported cancellation of land titles (Pattayams) belonging to nearly 50 families in the Veeranchira area, with their properties now understood to be classified as forest land. It has sought verification of the original land assignment proceedings, cancellation orders, forest notifications, survey records and relevant government orders to establish the circumstances surrounding the change in land status.
