AP CM lays stone for Rs 327 Cr. worth development works in Kuppam

Tirupati, Sep 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday laid the foundation stone for development works to the tune of Rs 327 crore in his home constituency Kuppam.
On the first day of his two-day visit, he performed bhoomi pooja for the projects, including a Rs 38 crore project in Kuppam municipality limits to make Kuppam a garbage-free town. He also inaugurated the 15 MW PM Kusum solar project, established to provide power to the agriculture feeds.
Later, addressing a public meeting, he highlighted that 133 irrigation tanks were filled with water in the constituency through the Handri Neeva canal water. As many as 550 minor irrigation tanks are being linked with the lift irrigation by connecting them with the pipelines.
The issue of constructing two reservoirs at Yamiganipalli and Manapalli villages is under consideration, he announced, adding that a reservoir at a cost of Rs 45 crore will be constructed at Beeruvanipalli, which will be filled through the Handri Neeva Sujala Sravani project canal.
Naidu called upon the farmers to utilize water judiciously as reservoirs are getting depleted. Steps were taken to ensure that there would be no scarcity of fodder, he added.
“Water scarcity prevailed due to the El Niño impact, and the State is facing a dry spell. There are no expected inflows in the Krishna and Godavari rivers,” he informed and advised the farmers not to use huge quantities of chemical fertilizers and to take up natural farming and alternative crops using micro irrigation methods.

The Chief Minister revealed that over 20 lakh farmers have taken up natural farming and the government wants to encourage more farmers to take up natural farming.
Stating that he has inaugurated development projects worth Rs 7,939 crore in Kuppam during the last two months, he said the Central Government has facilitated a stop for the Dadar-Puducherry Express at Kuppam railway station.
He highlighted that the national highways are being developed to connect Bengaluru, Chennai, KGF, and Krishnagiri regions, and said an alternative road to Bengaluru is being constructed from Kuppam-Pogurupalli.

The Chief Minister said that he had requested the Railway Minister to provide a broad-gauge rail link between Chittoor and Kuppam. Furthermore, he mentioned that connectivity is being enhanced to ensure that goods produced in Kuppam can reach Krishnapatnam Port. The Chief Minister also promised to construct an airport at Kuppam.
