AP incurred 4,600 Cr. loss due to Arnab Cyclone: CM

Amalapuram, Oct 29 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that the State has incurred an estimated loss of Rs 4,600 crore due to the devastation caused by cyclone Arnab and submitted a preliminary damage report to the Centre in this regard.
Talking to mediapersons after an aerial survey of the cyclone-affected areas on Thursday, Naidu informed that he had spoken to the union Home Minister Amit Shah to convey the details.
Among other areas, the Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of badly hit Konaseema district, inspected the relief centres at Gachakayalapora village in Mummidivaram constituency and interacted with the victims.
Naidu announced compensation of Rs 1,500 for each damaged coconut tree and oil palm tree. Families returning from relief camps would be given 25 kg of rice, a packet of essential commodities and financial assistance for their immediate expenses, he stated.
The Chief Minister revealed that crop insurance had already been provided to farmers and the farmers would receive compensation, if their yields decline due to the cyclone. “After assessing the damage, compensation for agricultural and horticultural crops will be credited to the beneficiaries' accounts at the earliest,” he explained.
The Chief Minister said that over 8,000 electricity poles were uprooted in Konaseema district alone. All the damaged poles would be replaced and power supply restored as quickly as possible.
He has requested his Telangana counterpart A. Revanth Reddy to send 1,000 electricity personnel to assist with restoration work. If necessary, teams would also be mobilised from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, he said.
The Chief Minister highlighted that technology was used to prevent breaches in irrigation tanks and the government machinery was deployed promptly in vulnerable locations to remove trees before they could cause further disruption.
Naidu appreciated the government machinery for their efficacy in taking preventive steps and assured the people that local problems would be resolved as quickly as possible. UNI DP CDS
