AP: Kakinada police launch TRACE App to strengthen election security

Kakinada, Oct 31 (UNI) Kakinada district police have introduced a digital monitoring system, TRACE (Tracking Routes, Alerting and Coordinating Emergencies), to strengthen election security by connecting 67 police vehicles and 143 polling stations through a centralised command and control network.
District Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav launched the mobile application and command control dashboard here on Saturday as part of efforts to improve election bandobust and ensure quick response to law and order emergencies.
The system connects 49 route mobile vehicles, 12 striking force vehicles and six special striking force vehicles with the control room, enabling real-time monitoring of their movements and deployment.
The locations of all 143 polling stations falling under the jurisdiction of Pithapuram town, Gollaprolu, Samalkot, Peddapuram, Tuni town and Yeleswaram police stations have been marked on a digital map.
The location of each police vehicle will be updated every 30 seconds, while the dashboard will indicate whether a vehicle is moving, stationary or facing network connectivity problems.
The polling stations visited by route mobile teams will automatically turn green on the dashboard, while those yet to be covered will appear in red, police officials said.
The application also has an SOS facility to alert the control room in case of law and order problems or emergencies.
Once an officer presses the SOS button, an alarm will sound at the control room and an alert will be sent to the nearest mobile patrol vehicle.
The responding personnel can use Google Maps navigation to reach the incident location.
Police personnel can also transmit information, photographs and updates on tension, crowd movement and other disturbances at polling stations through the application.
A hotspot map will help identify sensitive locations and facilitate deployment of additional forces wherever necessary.
The system also enables the SP to send recorded voice messages simultaneously to all route mobile phones, which will receive an alert before playing the message automatically.
Further, route mobile teams will update polling percentage at individual polling stations every hour, enabling the control room to monitor polling trends across the district.
Senior police officials can also monitor election security arrangements remotely through the TRACE Monitor application, the police said.
Additional SP (Administration) Dr M Kishore Kumar, Additional SP (AR) Srinivasa Rao, Special Branch DSP KVV Satyanarayana, Kakinada DSP NSVK Durga Rao, Peddapuram DSP ABG Tilak and station house officers attended the launch programme.
