Kerala Police rolls out Citizen Help Desks in all police stations: PRO system discontinued

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 31 (UNI) Kerala Police has introduced an integrated Citizen Help Desk system in all police stations across the state, bringing various public-oriented services under one umbrella to ensure quicker assistance and more efficient service delivery.
With the introduction of the new system, the existing Public Relations Officer (PRO) arrangement in police stations has been discontinued, and all its responsibilities and services have been incorporated into the Citizen Help Desks.
The desks will function as a single point of contact for the public, facilitating the submission of complaints, issuing acknowledgements, providing information and assisting visitors in accessing various police services, including digital facilities.
Special assistance will be provided to women, children, senior citizens, transgender persons and persons with disabilities, ensuring that their specific requirements receive due attention at police stations.
The new arrangement will also facilitate services relating to online financial fraud, cybercrime, offences committed through social media and complaints filed through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP). Assistance will also be available for accessing the 1930 toll-free helpline.
The Citizen Help Desks will provide basic legal guidance and direct complainants to legal aid centres wherever necessary. They will also assist in applications for Accident General Diary (GD) entries and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
In addition, the desks will provide information on Kerala Police's digital and online services, facilitate applications under the Right to Information Act and help complainants obtain copies of First Information Reports (FIRs).
The integrated arrangement is expected to make police stations more accessible to the public by bringing multiple services and assistance facilities under a common platform.
