AP: One killed, another injured in firecracker unit explosion

Guntur, Spt 19 (UNI) One person was killed and another sustained grievous burn injuries after a fire broke out and triggered an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Boppudi village of Chilakaluripet mandal in the erstwhile Guntur district in the early hours of Saturday.
According to police, firecrackers were being manufactured at the KSS Fireworks unit, where a large quantity of inflammable materials were reportedly stored ahead of the upcoming Deepavali festival.
The flames erupted suddenly, triggering an explosion in which the unit's owner, Bhuma Suresh (45), was killed on the spot.
Another person, identified as Yalagala Mastan Rao, reportedly the watchman at the unit, sustained grievous burn injuries in the incident.
Fire tenders from Chilakaluripet rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
Police registered a case and shifted Suresh's body to the Government General Hospital (GGH) for postmortem.
The exact cause of the fire and subsequent explosion is yet to be ascertained, police said.
