Arunachal: ACB arrests Chongkham police station OC in a bribery case

Itanagar, Oct 10 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Arunachal Pradesh, has arrested Sub-Inspector Vijay Kumar, Officer-in-Charge of Chongkham Police Station in Namsai district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 65,000, a senior ACB official said on Saturday.
According to the ACB, a case was registered against the accused on Thursday, October 8, following allegations that he had demanded Rs 1.5 lakh from a complainant in connection with a motor vehicle accident case.
The bribe was allegedly sought for providing copies of the FIR, Form 54 (police report) and post-mortem examination (PME) report required to file a claim before the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal (MACT).
Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and arrested Kumar on Friday red-handed while he was allegedly accepting Rs 65,000 at Mahadevpur in Namsai district.
Further investigation into the case is underway, the ACB said.
The Bureau has urged citizens to report demands for bribes in any government office by contacting its WhatsApp helpline at 9436040055 or emailing [email protected]. Complainants may also submit audio or video recordings and other relevant evidence to assist investigations.
