Arunachal leaders pay tribute to Syama Prasad Mookerjee on Balidan Diwas

Itanagar, June 23 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Monday paid heartfelt tributes to BJP ideologue Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 'Balidan Diwas' (Martyrdom Day), remembering his immense contribution to the unity and sovereignty of the nation.
Chief Minister Khandu described Dr Mookerjee as “a stalwart of unmatched resolve”, who laid down his life safeguarding the integrity of the country.
“His fearless stand and pioneering role in shaping the nation’s destiny continue to inspire generations. A grateful nation bows in homage to his timeless legacy,” Khandu stated.
Deputy Chief Minister Mein also remembered Dr Mookerjee as “a pioneering leader whose thoughts and actions shaped the course of India's national and political journey.”
He added that Dr Mookerjee's firm commitment to unity, national interest, and democratic values serves as a guiding light for the present and future.
“On this day, we honour his legacy and reflect on the ideals he upheld with courage, clarity, and a deep sense of duty toward the nation,” Mein said.
Dr Mookerjee, the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, laid down his life in 1953 while protesting against the special status granted to Jammu & Kashmir. His martyrdom is commemorated
annually as Balidan Diwas.
