ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise AIME-2026 begins in Philippines

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) The second edition of the ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise (AIME-2026) commenced at Subic Bay, bringing together Indian and ASEAN maritime forces for professional, operational and social engagements aimed at enhancing mutual understanding, cooperation and interoperability.
The exercise, being conducted under the theme “Anchored in Trust, United at Sea”, involves Indian Naval Ships Sahyadri and Kulish along with maritime forces from ASEAN member states.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Indian Ambassador to the Philippines Harsh Kumar Jain highlighted the importance of maritime cooperation and engagement between India and ASEAN countries.
The harbour phase of AIME-2026 comprises a range of professional, operational and social activities, including subject matter expert exchanges, sporting and cultural events, community engagement and operational synchronisation. A pre-sail brief will be conducted before the participating forces proceed to the sea phase. During the sea phase, the participating maritime forces will undertake coordinated maritime exercises and operational serials designed to strengthen professional understanding, operational coordination and interoperability through practical training at sea.
The participation of INS Sahyadri and INS Kulish underscores the Indian Navy's continued focus on strengthening maritime partnerships and promoting practical cooperation with ASEAN maritime forces.
AIME-2026 is being conducted in furtherance of India's Act East Policy and the vision of MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions).
