MNS centenary celebrations conclude with tribute to a century of service

New Delhi, Sept 30 (UNI) Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Wednesday attended the closing ceremony of the Centenary Year celebrations of the Military Nursing Service (MNS) at Manekshaw Centre here, marking the culmination of year-long commemorative events celebrating a century of the service.
Addressing the gathering, Seth acknowledged the exemplary service, professionalism and selfless dedication of MNS officers, and highlighted their vital role in supporting the Armed Forces Medical Services and the nation during war, natural calamities and peacetime.
Director General Armed Forces Medical Services Air Marshal Sandeep Thareja lauded the professional commitment, compassion and unwavering dedication of MNS officers, describing their contribution to the Armed Forces Medical Services over the past century as invaluable. The ceremony featured the release of a commemorative coin, the memoir Steel and Grace and the centenary commemorative book Healing Hands & Brave Hearts: MNS@100. A commemorative video, Glimpses of a Year of Commemoration, was also released.
A photo gallery showcasing the history and evolution of the Military Nursing Service was inaugurated on the occasion. Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, DGMS (Army) Lt Gen CG Muralidharan, Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Sandeep Jain, Additional DGMNS Maj Gen Rachel Thomas and other senior dignitaries from the Delhi Garrison attended the ceremony.
The year-long celebrations reaffirmed the MNS's enduring commitment to compassion, professional excellence and service to the nation under its centenary theme, “Honouring the Past, Healing the Present & Inspiring the Future.” UNI PWS CDS
