Bihar CM inspects under-construction ethanol plant in Jamui

Jamui, Oct 3 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inspected the under-construction Ankur Biochem Private Limited ethanol plant at Chakai in Jamui district and reviewed the progress of the project on Saturday.
During the inspection, officials briefed the Chief Minister on the construction work and various aspects of the project. They informed him that commercial production at the plant is expected to commence by March 2027.
A review meeting was subsequently held at the plant premises under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. Jamui District Magistrate Naveen made a presentation outlining the project and its progress.
According to the presentation, the project is among the major grain-based ethanol plants in Asia and is being developed over 105 acres. The plant will have a production capacity of 1,000 kilolitres per day, translating into approximately 10 lakh litres of ethanol production daily.
A 20-MW captive power generation facility will also be established as part of the project, enabling the plant to meet a substantial portion of its energy requirements. The facility will require around 30,000 quintals of grain every day, potentially providing local farmers with a stable and reliable market for their produce.
The plant will operate on a zero-liquid-discharge system, aimed at promoting water conservation and reducing environmental impact.
It was informed that various industrial projects in Jamui district, including Ankur Steel Private Limited, Ankur Biochem Private Limited, CLM Developers Private Limited and Ankur Tradevista Private Limited, are expected to bring investments of around Rs 3,400 crore. These projects are expected to generate more than 10,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The district administration also briefed the Chief Minister on the proposed industrial area at Chakai. Around 9,000 acres of land have been identified for the industrial zone, of which approximately 5,000 acres belong to the Forest Department and 4,000 acres comprise raiyati and other categories of land.
Choudhary directed officials to complete mapping of the identified land within 10 to 12 days to establish the actual extent of forest land and determine how much of it is currently covered by forest. He also ordered a detailed assessment of the status of the 4,000 acres of raiyati and other-category land.
The Chief Minister directed officials to involve circle officers, DCLR officials and concerned officers of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department in the exercise. He asked the administration to compile complete details of the identified land by October 30 and prepare a subsequent action plan.
Choudhary also directed officials to work towards developing Laghuaur Temple and Garhi Dam as tourism destinations. He stressed that developing the two sites could create employment opportunities for local residents. At Laghuaur Temple, he called for expansion of public amenities and preparation of a plan for accommodation facilities for devotees.
The Chief Minister further directed officials to strengthen policing arrangements in the district and ensure regular patrolling. He asked the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police to visit police stations and review their functioning to improve services at the grassroots level.
He also called for an awareness campaign against drug abuse, along with sustained police action and administrative vigilance to maintain law and order.
Choudhary directed officials to ensure proper maintenance and continuous monitoring of the roads connecting Bhimbandh with Laxmipur and Munger with Gangta so that public movement remains smooth. He also asked the administration to assess the need for a ropeway in the district and submit the necessary proposal.
The Chief Minister further directed officials to explore measures for ensuring electricity availability in forest areas along the lines of the initiative in Kaimur.
Speaking at the meeting, Choudhary said Bihar must move forward in the industrial sector and that land had been identified for establishing an industrial area in Jamui to accelerate the district''s economic development.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to take necessary action on issues raised by local public representatives during the review meeting.
