Bihar: Nitish Kumar donates one month's salary to flood relief fund

Patna, Sep 24 (UNI) Janata Dal (United) national president and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday donated his one month's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for assistance to flood-affected people in the state.
Kumar handed over the cheque to Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary here during the day.
The former chief minister said he had always maintained that disaster-affected people should have the first right over the state exchequer.
He said the Bihar government was working with full preparedness to provide relief and rehabilitation to families affected by the floods during the difficult situation.
Kumar said it was the responsibility of everyone to support the government''s relief efforts during such times. He appealed to elected representatives and financially capable people to come forward and contribute to strengthen the government''s efforts to provide relief to flood victims.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and ruling party deputy leader in the Legislative Council Lalan Kumar Sarraf were also present on the occasion.
