BJP seeks FIR against Priyank Kharge over knives sent to Narayanaswamy's house

Bengaluru, Nov 8 (UNI) The BJP on Sunday demanded registration of an FIR against Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge, holding him responsible for the incident in which knives and blades were allegedly sent to the residence of Legislative Council Leader of Opposition Chalavadi Narayanaswamy.
Addressing a protest organised at Freedom Park here against the incident, former MP S Muniswamy alleged that Kharge had been repeatedly targeting Narayanaswamy and was directly responsible for the act.
"The Home Minister should be the first person against whom an FIR is registered," he demanded, urging the police to take suo motu cognisance of the incident, investigate the conspiracy behind it and arrest those involved.
Muniswamy also accused the Congress government of denying security and official accommodation to Narayanaswamy and misusing the state police for political purposes. He called upon people to work towards removing the Congress government from power.
Former MLA Y Sampangi accused the Congress of promoting a "goonda culture" and demanded that Chief Minister DK Shivakumar apologise on behalf of the party workers involved in the incident.
Alleging that the government was diverting attention from public issues, including price rise and farmers' distress, Sampangi warned that any harm to BJP leaders or workers would make the Chief Minister and Home Minister accountable.
He, however, asserted that the BJP would not resort to violence or take the law into its own hands, saying the party would respond through democratic and constitutional means.
BJP Bengaluru North district president S Harish also criticised the Congress, alleging that the incident reflected the party's intolerance towards opposition voices.
He warned that any attempt to enter Narayanaswamy's residence in the future would invite retaliation at Congress leaders' residences.
The BJP leaders maintained that Narayanaswamy had been targeted for questioning the state government and demanded accountability from the Chief Minister and the Home Minister over the incident.
