BJP will win regardless of voting method: Chandrakant Patil

Solapur, Oct 18 ( UNI) Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Chandrakant Patil on Sunday asserted that his party would win elections irrespectiv of whether voting is conducted through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) or ballot papers, accusing the opposition of blaming the system for its electoral defeats.
“Whether elections are held through EVMs or ballot papers, we will win,” Patil said while campaigning in Solapur for the Pune Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituencies elections.
Taking a dig at the opposition, he invoked the Marathi saying “nachata yeina angan vakde”, which means blaming the circumstances for one’s own inability.
Citing recent student union election results, Patil said the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the RSS-affiliated student organisation, had won three of the four seats in the recent ballot-paper elections at Delhi University. He also claimed that the ABVP had won all six university elections held in Odisha.
Referring to the forthcoming elections, Patil said the BJP and its allies would demonstrate their strength on October 27, asserting that the outcome would favour them even if ballot papers were used instead of EVMs.
Commenting on the Shiv Sena’s decision to support independent candidate Sachin Sanap in the Pune Teachers’ Constituency election, Patil acknowledged that the move was a setback for the Mahayuti alliance.
“The Shiv Sena’s support for Sachin Sanap is certainly bad news. However, two days are still left, and I hope something positive will happen during this period,” he said.
Expressing uncertainty over the impact of the decision, Patil said the situation has reached a point where little could be done immediately, adding that it remained to be seen how events would unfold.
He also urged Mahayuti leaders and workers to refrain from criticising alliance partners, stressing the need to maintain coordination and unity within the ruling coalition.
