Five killed as Bus collides with car on Beed highway

Beed, Oct 18 ( UNI) Five people were killed on the spot when a bus collided with a car near Shindewadi Phata on the Pandharpur–Khamgaon Palkhi Highway in Beed district on Sunday.
The victims were travelling from Majalgaon to Tuljapur to seek the blessings of Goddess Tulja Bhavani when the accident occurred. The collision left the car completely mangled and the front portion of the bus severely damaged.
he deceased have been identified as Omkar Mahadev Giri (24), Gajanan Mahadev Namdas (38), Mauli Gajanan Namdas (11), Somnath Bade (23) and Anil Acharya (40).
According to preliminary information, all five victims were travelling in the car towards Tuljapur when it collided with the bus near Shindewadi Phata. The impact was so severe that all five occupants of the car died on the spot and the car was completely mangled, while the front portion of the bus also suffered extensive damage.
The accident triggered panic in the area and disrupted traffic on the highway for some time.
Following the incident, residents of Shindewadi and neighbouring villages staged a road blockade, demanding immediate safety measures at the accident-prone stretch.
The protesters alleged that a road hump near Shindewadi Phata had become a major cause of repeated accidents. They urged the authorities to take urgent corrective measures to prevent further loss of life.
