Fatehpur (UP), May 21 (UNI) In a suspected case of rape and murder the body of a 40-year-old woman was found under mysterious circumstances in Khaga area of Fatehpur district in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, a senior police officer said here.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Anoop Singh said that the victim was employed as an ASHA Bahu in Khaga Primary Health Centre (PHC). "Due to differences with her husband, she used to live with her parents in her maternal home in Khaga town," he said.

He said that on Tuesday, she went to PHC but did not return. "Her body was found in the forest of Sejrahi village on the eastern bypass, 500 meters away from the house, on Wednesday morning. The family members have expressed the possibility of murder after rape," he said.

The SP said that the police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating the matter.
