BSP supremo Mayawati reviews voter list revision in Uttarakhand & preparations for upcoming elections

Lucknow, Oct 4 (UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati held an important meeting with senior party officials in Uttarakhand on Sunday to discuss the situation following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, preparations for the upcoming assembly elections, and strengthening the organisation.
The meeting, held in the presence of BSP Uttarakhand in-charge and former MP Munakad Ali, reviewed the changes in the voter list following the Election Commission's SIR, the party's prospects for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttarakhand and Punjab, and the progress in selecting strong candidates.
According to a statement issued by the party, special emphasis was placed on strengthening the organisation at the booth level and preventing those excluded from the voter list under the SIR from being deprived of their voting rights.
The BSP said that continuous efforts should be made at the party level to include the names of the poor, youth, women, and vulnerable sections of society in the voter list.
Mayawati also targeted the Uttarakhand government's alleged anti-poor and anti-people approach.
She said the state government appears more dedicated to the interests of big capitalists and the wealthy class than to public welfare, which will be a key issue in the upcoming elections.
The BSP, while intensifying organisational activities in Uttarakhand, also reviewed preparations for events marking the death anniversary of party founder Kanshi Ram on October 9. Mayawati directed that the anniversary be organised with a missionary spirit.
According to the statement, Mayawati said that on Kanshi Ram's death anniversary, there will be a programme for the people of Uttar Pradesh to pay their respects at the statue of Kanshi Ram installed at the Bahujan Prerna Kendra in Lucknow.
She said that no major events will be held there this year to avoid any accidents caused by a crowd gathering there.
BSP said that people from all the divisions of Uttar Pradesh will reach Lucknow and pay tribute at the Kanshi Ram memorial site, while in other states also, tribute will be paid to the party founder by organising various programs including seminars at the district and state level.
