Sant Ravidas Nagar, Mirzapur, Varanasi to be developed as silk clusters: CM Yogi

Sant Ravidas Nagar, Oct 4 (UNI) Sant Ravidas Nagar, Mirzapur, and Varanasi will be developed as silk clusters. The Varanasi-Vindhya Regional Development Plan will also be implemented soon.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made this statement during a direct interaction with exporters, sellers, and leading entrepreneurs in the carpet industry at the Golden Jubilee edition of the India Carpet Expo on Sunday.
Entrepreneurs raised issues related to a separate policy for the carpet industry, business needs, and the participation of women entrepreneurs. The Chief Minister listened to them one by one and assured them that the government would address the issues raised.
Anil Kumar, a carpet businessman from Mirzapur, praised the Yogi government's work, citing improved connectivity. He also raised issues related to the ancient city of Mirzapur and its carpet business. After listening to him, the Chief Minister assured him of addressing the issues raised.
Imtiaz Ahmed said that entrepreneurs have benefited greatly from the ODOP scheme. A policy for the carpet industry along these lines would further benefit businesses and create new employment opportunities. He said that this is the third time he has received Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's blessings.
One Piyush Kumar Baranwal said that India is number one in handmade carpets. Carpets take a long time to produce, so a policy should be formulated keeping the needs of the industry in mind, keeping it separate from the manufacturing category. The Chief Minister described this as a good suggestion, saying that he congratulates the weavers who have kept their ancestral heritage alive. He assured that the government will definitely take note of this suggestion.
Adarsh Purnima said that previously, the India Carpet Expo was held in Delhi. At that time, it was unimaginable that it would be held in Bhadohi. Now, such a large fair is being held in her own district, and the Chief Minister has come for the second consecutive time to encourage the carpet industry. The carpet industry has a large number of women entrepreneurs and workers, but the current structure of the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) has failed to engage women. There should be provisions for women that will increase their participation and strengthen their morale.
On this, the Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. Women will no longer be solely dependent on the government, but will also create their own laws. He asked CEPC to ensure the participation of women entrepreneurs and reserve space for them. The Chief Minister also promised change in this direction.
