Centre fixes ₹25,000 monthly wage ceiling under Social Security Code

New Delhi, Sep 17 (UNI) The Centre has fixed ₹25,000 per month as the wage ceiling for the purposes of Chapter III of the Code on Social Security, 2020, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Thursday.
The new wage ceiling will come into effect from the date of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette.
The ministry issued the notification, S.O. 5109(E), in exercise of powers conferred under clause (89) of Section 2 of the Code on Social Security, 2020.
The notification supersedes the ministry's earlier notification S.O. 2702(E), dated May 29, 2026, except for actions already taken or omitted under that notification before its supersession.
“The Central Government hereby notifies rupees twenty-five thousand (₹25,000) per month as the wage ceiling for the purposes of Chapter III of the said Code,” the notification said.
The notification was issued by Tejaswi S. Naik, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Chapter III of the Code on Social Security, 2020, governs the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) framework.
