CJP stages massive showdown at Shivaji Park, demands CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation

Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) In a high-stakes escalation of political tension, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), led by founder Abhijeet Dipke, has launched a fierce agitation at Mumbai's historic Shivaji Park. Demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, protesters accused the poll panel of gross incompetence and systematic disenfranchisement.
The demonstration, buzzing with high-octane energy, transformed the iconic grounds into a sea of dissent. Protesters hoisted sharp satirical memes, tricolours, and massive banners bearing slogans like "Save Democracy" and "Gaddaar Gyaanu Must Go"
The CJP has lambasted the Election Commission, claiming that recent electoral rolls stripped millions of citizens of their voting rights. Organizers termed the leadership "inefficient, dishonest, and a betrayal of the democratic framework."
The agitation drew notable cultural heavyweights. Acclaimed actress Shabana Azmi, singer Vishal Dadlani (who electrified the crowd with a live performance), and filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj marked their presence to back the movement. Setting a distinct tone, participants donned T-shirts bearing Mahatma Gandhi's portrait. Founder Abhijeet Dipke anchored his speech around constitutional values, stating, "Gandhi is the soul of this nation, Ambedkar is its spine, and Nehru is its intellect."
Issuing a stern warning to the administration, CJP leaders declared that the Mumbai gathering was merely a trailer. The movement now sets its sights on New Delhi for a final showdown at Jantar Mantar.
With tensions simmering and political heavyweights weighing in, the agitation marks a critical flashpoint over the autonomy and transparency of India's electoral institution.
