Six Bangladeshi Nationals Detained in Khar; Fake ID Racket Busted

Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) Police have detained six persons suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals illegally staying in India and busted an alleged racket involved in preparing fake Indian identity documents.
According to police, the alleged prime accused, identified as Iqbal Akbarali Shaikh alias Gautam Sunil Dutta (35), facilitated the entry of persons from Bangladesh into India and allegedly arranged identity documents, railway travel, accommodation and employment for them.
Shaikh has been arrested and a case registered at Khar Police Station under Crime No. 1645/2026 under Section 24 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, police said.
The detained persons have been identified as Rana Molla Imdadul Molla alias Rana Shah (20), Sameem Mizanoor Sardar alias Raju Narendra (25), Mosamd Munjila Khatoon alias Sila Sardar alias Riya Dutta (23), Mafuja Akhtar Lima Md. Hashim Kazi alias Kavita Shah (25), and Halima Akhtar Md. Zillu Khan alias Monika Dutta (26), besides Shaikh.
During examination of the arrested accused's mobile phone, police allegedly found photographs of around 40 Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and other identity documents bearing different names, along with photographs of women, QR codes, railway tickets and other digital information.
Police also searched his residence and seized a Banglalink SIM card issued in Bangladesh and 20 suspected fake Aadhaar cards bearing different names.
The seized documents have been taken into custody and their authenticity, as well as the basis on which they were allegedly prepared, is being verified with the competent authorities, police said.
Further investigation is underway to identify those allegedly involved in preparing fake Indian identity documents and to trace middlemen or agents who may have facilitated illegal entry, travel and accommodation, police added.
