CM Revanth Reddy says Sadar Sammelanam celebrates self-respect of Telangana people

Hyderabad, Nov 4 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said the Sadar Sammelanam was not merely a festival of the Yadav community but a celebration of the self-respect of all the people of Telangana.
He said the State government had recognised the community’s contribution by declaring Sadar Sammelanam a state festival and sanctioning Rs 5 crore for its organisation.
Addressing the grand Sadar Sammelanam held at NTR Gardens here, the Chief Minister said Hyderabad had developed with the cooperation and contribution of the Yadav community.
Recalling the historical association of the community with the region, he said Golconda Fort was once known as ‘Gollamkonda’, meaning the hill of shepherds.
He said the Yadav community had welcomed and embraced people who came to Hyderabad from different parts of the country. No previous Chief Minister had considered declaring Sadar Sammelanam a state festival, and the present government had taken the decision in recognition of the community, he added.
Revanth Reddy said the government had conducted a caste census in Telangana in a manner that could serve as a model for the country and was committed to ensuring due representation for the Yadav community.
He cited the opportunities provided to Anil Kumar Yadav as a Rajya Sabha member, Naveen Yadav as an MLA and Eshwaramma Yadav as a member of the Yadagirigutta Temple Board.
The Chief Minister also said the government was making arrangements for the protection of cows at the goshala in Yadagirigutta and would take further measures to ensure that the Yadav community received its rightful share.
Protecting the self-respect of the community, he said, was the government’s responsibility.
Stating that the government was working to transform Telangana into one of the most developed States in the country, he sought the cooperation of the Yadav community in taking forward major initiatives, including the Musi Riverfront development, Metro rail network expansion and the proposed Bharat Future City.
RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav and TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud attended the programme as chief guests. The event was organised under the leadership of MP Anil Kumar Yadav and former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav.
Government Advisor Hanumantha Rao, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, public representatives, Congress leaders and workers, and representatives of various Yadav community organisations also participated. A large number of community members attended the celebrations, which highlighted the traditions, culture and unity of the Yadav community.
