Collective Efforts Needed to Revive Visakhapatnam Steel Plant: MP Sribharat

Visakhapatnam, Oct 10 (UNI) Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat on Saturday called for coordinated efforts by the management, workers and other stakeholders to revive Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), popularly known as Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, and strengthen its production capacity and financial position.
Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony for comprehensive sports development works at the VMRDA grounds in Pedagantyada, under the Gajuwaka constituency, he said the plant's revival process faced several challenges, though the situation was gradually improving.
The coming months would be crucial in determining its future prospects, he added.
Sribharat assured employees that salaries were being paid in full and said there was no need for undue concern over salary payments.
He also noted that the promotion process was underway.
He said restoring the steel plant to a sustainable position required careful planning, sustained efforts and cooperation from workers and employees.
With market conditions offering favourable opportunities, he stressed the need to increase production and expedite the restoration of plant units.
Expressing optimism about the plant's prospects, the MP said the revival of all units over the next six to nine months could create further opportunities for growth and development. Improved production and profitability could also pave the way for expanding employment opportunities in the future, he added.
Sribharat emphasised that the revival of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was not solely the responsibility of the management but required the collective support of workers, employees, public representatives and other stakeholders.
He expressed confidence that a united approach would help strengthen the plant and lay a firm foundation for its long-term sustainability and growth.
