Cong govt blocking Karnataka's progress: Vijayendra

Bengaluru, June 29 (UNI) Karnataka BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa today launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led state government, accusing it of betraying the people by "stalling" crucial railway projects and allowing the state’s development to stagnate.
"The Congress government has lost all moral authority to govern. Their only focus is retaining power at any cost," Vijayendra said, branding the current administration as self-serving and indifferent to public welfare.
He said despite the proactive approval and enthusiasm shown by the Narendra Modi-led Union Government to implement new railway projects in the state, the current Karnataka government has failed to provide the required cost-sharing contribution.
Citing the funding formula, the BJP leader alleged that the state had simply "washed its hands off" its share, leading to indefinite delays in multiple railway infrastructure schemes.
"This deliberate apathy has poured cold water on the dreams of people who have waited for years. In districts like Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Mysuru Rural, and Chamarajanagar, people were hoping for rail connectivity to Sathyamangalam. Their expectations have been crushed,” he said.
Among the projects most affected is the Mysuru–Kushalnagar railway line — a long-standing demand that now risks complete abandonment. Vijayendra stated that the state's inaction has dealt a blow to the tourism sector and local aspirations.
Calling the Congress government a "curse on Karnataka", he said the state's failure to prioritise infrastructure has made it unattractive for external investment. “Transport and connectivity are fundamental to economic development. Ignoring these will push the state into deeper backwardness,” he warned.
Adding weight to his claims, Vijayendra cited a recent statement by a Congress MLA, who admitted that the government is unable to build even a drainage system in a village due to financial constraints. "This is proof that the state treasury is empty. In such a situation, expecting funding for rail projects is unrealistic," he said.
He further accused the Congress regime of encouraging corruption across departments and being complicit in commission-driven politics. “Every department is stuck in the grip of bribery and neglect. This government has completely rusted the machinery of development,” he alleged.
Calling for public mobilisation, Vijayendra declared, “Karnataka cannot move forward unless this anti-people, zero-development government is removed. The people will soon rise to end this disastrous rule.” UNI BDN SSP
