Cong trying to create anarchy as Modi's fourth term haunts party

Mysuru, Nov 6 (UNI) Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa on Friday accused the Congress of attempting to foment unrest and political instability in the country out of fear that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could return to power for a fourth consecutive term, alleging that the party was trying to bring down the NDA government by pushing young people onto the streets.
Launching a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Vijayendra said the Congress could never return to power under his leadership and accused him of harbouring an unrealistic ambition of becoming Prime Minister.
"Some people dream of becoming Prime Minister at least once in their lifetime. Rahul Gandhi is unable to get rid of that obsession, but his dream will never become a reality," he said.
Addressing the BJP's 'Save Democracy, Eradicate Anarchy' march in Mysuru, Vijayendra alleged that the Congress was resorting to protests and conspiracies in Delhi and other parts of the country because it was unable to accept the possibility of Modi securing another term.
"The Congress is apprehensive that Narendra Modi will become Prime Minister for the fourth time. Unable to digest India's progress under his leadership, it is attempting to create confusion, bring young people onto the streets and destabilise the elected government," he charged.
The march was inaugurated after garlanding the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar.
Projecting the political confrontation as a battle between development and disruption, Vijayendra claimed that India had emerged as a major global power under Modi, with terrorism and Naxalism being effectively contained and peace prevailing across the country.
He alleged that forces unable to accept India's growing stature were attempting to create unrest by mobilising people with what he described as divisive and anti-national intentions.
Referring to remarks attributed to Jharkhand Minister Ansari that 40 lakh people could take to the streets and set the country on fire if Rahul Gandhi decided, Vijayendra questioned the political intent behind such statements and said the BJP's campaign was aimed at exposing attempts to create anarchy.
Vijayendra also turned his attack on the Congress government in Karnataka, accusing it of being anti-farmer, anti-youth and anti-Hindu.
Alleging that people were facing difficulties in celebrating festivals, he cited the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and the increase in milk and curd prices during the Dasara and Deepavali festive season as examples of the government's alleged anti-people policies.
"This government must be sent home. We must unite to remove a government that is against farmers, youth and Hindus," he appealed to BJP workers.
Former minister C T Ravi, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, BJP state general secretary Preetham Gowda, Legislative Council Opposition Chief Whip N Ravikumar and MLA Srivatsa were among those who participated in the march.
