Congress, RJD did nothing for Dalits and backwards in Bihar: PM

Congress, RJD did nothing for Dalits and backwards in Bihar: PM

Bikramganj (Bihar), May 30 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday alleged that Congress and RJD had done nothing for Dalits and backwards in Bihar when they were in power.

Addressing a public meeting at Bikramganj in Rohtas district of Bihar, the PM said that while Congress and RJD remained in power in the state for a long time, both did nothing for Dalits and backwards. Dalits and other weaker sections of the society were forced to migrate to other states of the country during 'jungle raj' of RJD," he said.

The Prime Minister said people should remain alert against those responsible for complete lawlessness and 'jungle raj' in Bihar. "Power supply situation was grim when both RJD and Congress were in power. Today, the availability of electricity has increased immensely in the state under the NDA rule in Bihar," he added.

"As per an estimate, power consumption in Bihar has increased four times in the last decade. It would further increase in the days ahead. By then power projects for which foundation stones have been laid today would be completed ", Modi said, adding that opportunities for investment were increasing in Bihar which would create new jobs. A number of welfare and development schemes have been launched by the government, benefitting people of the state, he added.

" Around 75 lakh farmers are getting benefits of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Nidhi Yojana in Bihar", Prime Minister said, adding that the MSP for crops during the Kharif season was increased in a cabinet meeting two days back. When opposition parties were in power, bank accounts were not opened for Dalits and Backwards, he said.

"Four crore new dwelling units have been constructed for the poor and ration card facilities provided to them by the NDA government", Modi said adding that the poor were being given free ration every month under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojna. A solar power unit would also be established in Kajra in Bihar to herald the era of green energy in the state, he added.

"We are encouraging farmers and others to take benefits of PM Surya Ghar Yojna as it would not only fulfill their electricity requirements but also increase their income ", the Prime Minister said, adding that all sections of the society were being taken care of under the NDA government in Bihar.

"Bihar has to become a developed state for India to become a developed nation," Modi said, adding India was on top in prosperity when Bihar was on the top and vibrant.
