Congress to launch month-long nationwide agitation from Oct10 under 'Save the Vote, Save the Country' campaign

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) The Congress on Monday held a meeting with state in-charges, state Congress presidents, and heads of its frontal organisations to chalk out a strategy for a nationwide agitation over the issue of “vote theft.”
The meeting was chaired by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, while Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi was also present. After the meeting, Congress General Secretary K. C. Venugopal said that party president Kharge had instructed party leaders to conduct an aggressive, nationwide campaign against alleged vote theft under the slogan “Save the Vote, Save the Country.”
He said that a widespread campaign would be carried out across the country for one month beginning October 10.
Venugopal said Rahul Gandhi had made it clear that the agitation would not be limited to one or two days, but would continue until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is removed and reforms are made to the electoral system. He made serious allegations against the Election Commission, calling it the “Cheating Commission of India.”
He said that on Tuesday, INDIA bloc MPs would march from Parliament House to the Election Commission at 10:30 a.m. and demand Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. He added that the Congress would continue its nationwide agitation even after that.
It is worth noting that protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar have been continuing at several locations in the national capital, Delhi. Leaders of the INDIA bloc have already demanded Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. Opposition MPs are now planning to march from Parliament House to the Election Commission on Tuesday.
According to sources, political parties that have been dissatisfied with the INDIA bloc have also been invited to join the march. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), DMK, and BJD have reportedly been asked to participate.UNI XC AAB
