India, Kazakhstan troops hone combat skills in KAZIND-2026 at Oskemen

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) The ninth edition of the India-Kazakhstan Joint Military Exercise KAZIND-2026 is underway at Oskemen in Kazakhstan, with troops from the two countries undertaking joint training aimed at enhancing combat skills, coordination and interoperability.
The exercise, being conducted from September 28 to October 11, provides an opportunity for the participating contingents to train together, exchange operational experiences and familiarise themselves with each other's tactics, techniques and procedures.
As part of the ongoing training, Indian and Kazakh troops participated in joint physical training and sporting activities aimed at enhancing physical fitness and strengthening team spirit.
The troops also conducted a tactical navigation exercise through the Akhmirovo Training Area, where they honed their navigation skills and practised coordinated movement across varied terrain.
The training programme included joint weapon handling and tactical drills, small arms live firing and combined combat exercises, with the focus on sharpening battlefield skills and developing greater coordination during integrated operations.
The Indian contingent also participated in a joint Yoga session with their Kazakh counterparts. The activity provided an opportunity for interaction between the troops and further strengthened camaraderie and bonhomie between the two contingents.
The exercise is also facilitating the exchange of best practices and operational experiences, while enabling both sides to gain a better understanding of each other's training methodologies and operational procedures.
KAZIND-2026 is aimed at further strengthening the longstanding defence cooperation between India and Kazakhstan and providing both forces a platform to enhance their ability to operate together effectively in a joint environment.
The exercise also underscores the close defence ties and bonds of friendship between the two countries, with the participating troops continuing to undertake joint activities and training drills through October 11.
