Delhi: Traffic Police holds inter-state coordination meet on implementation of GRAP & CAMQ directives

New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) In view of the invocation of Commission for Air Quality Management’s anti-pollution Graded Response Action Plan’s stage-I, and the need for coordinated action to control air pollution, an inter-state coordination meeting was held today, chaired by Delhi Traffic Police Special Commissioner Ajay Chaudhary.
The important coordination meeting was attended by representatives of departments concerned, civic agencies and police authorities of neighbouring states and districts across the NCR.
Special emphasis was laid on preventing the entry of non-compliant inter-city and inter-state buses into Delhi-NCR.
Such buses must be diverted at the borders itself, as their diversion after entering Delhi leads to traffic congestion and additional pollution.
Notably, as per the applicable directions, only EV, CNG and BS-VI diesel buses are permitted, subject to the prescribed conditions as per the directives.
The meeting also reviewed the entry restrictions applicable to vehicles registered outside Delhi from November 1 to January 31, 2027, subject to notified exemptions.
In the meeting, it was decided that display boards should be installed at Delhi’s borders clearly indicating that prohibited vehicles, including non-exempt vehicles not meeting the prescribed emission norms, will not be allowed to enter the national capital.
Joint enforcement teams may also be constituted at the borders for effective implementation.
It is noteworthy that the issue of vehicles permitted to operate for different periods in Delhi and neighbouring states was discussed, and it was emphasized that vehicles not legally permitted to operate in Delhi must not be allowed entry in violation of applicable restrictions.
The authorities were also urged to strictly enforce no-entry timings, check non-destined and overloaded vehicles, and take action against vehicles transporting construction and demolition (C&D) material in violation of prescribed norms.
Vehicle owners were advised to ensure valid Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC), wherever applicable.
It was emphasized that CAQM directions must be complied on top priority and implemented in a time-bound manner, and the officers decided to create a dedicated social media group for real-time coordination, sharing of directions and monitoring of action taken by various agencies.
Ajay Chaudhary, while addressing the other officers appreciated the efforts of all agencies and stressed that controlling air pollution is a collective responsibility requiring coordinated action by every stakeholder. UNI APS SS
