Bengaluru, Monday, June 23 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former MP DK Suresh on Monday alleged that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) notice summoning him in connection with a gold fraud case involving ishwarya Gowda is politically motivated, asserting that he has no financial or personal ties to the accused.
Speaking to reporters before appearing at the ED office, Suresh said he would fully cooperate with the inquiry and respond through his lawyer. “Some of the documents they’ve asked for are irrelevant to me. I fail to understand why such a notice was issued when I have no connection to this case.”
Aishwarya Gowda is the prime accused in a gold fraud case and, according to Suresh, had been misleadingly portrayed as having ties to him. “Someone referred to her as my ‘sister’, but I myself had lodged a formal complaint with the Police Commissioner against her for allegedly defrauding others,” he clarified.
Suresh firmly denied any financial dealings with her. “Neither I nor my mother have had any financial transactions with Aishwarya Gowda. I had attended only two events where she was present, nothing beyond that,” he said.
He confirmed that Aishwarya had visited his office and residence a few times, but said those were limited to general discussions. “Since she was from my former constituency, I met her. But I had no knowledge or involvement in her fraudulent activities.”
Referring to a coordinated smear campaign, Suresh alleged that attempts were made to impersonate his voice.
“Someone has done voice dubbing and mimicry using my voice to mislead others. Multiple police complaints have already been filed in this regard, though I’m unaware of their progress.”
He also questioned the basis of the ED’s involvement. “Now that the ED is stepping in, I want to understand under what legal grounds they have summoned me. My lawyer and I will assess what is relevant and respond accordingly.”
Calling the entire development politically coloured, Suresh said, “This appears to be political vendetta. The ED seems to be acting like a tool of the government. Even the Supreme Court and High Courts have pointed out that such actions are extending beyond legal jurisdiction. This undermines the democratic process.”
“Let them ask what they want. I am cooperating fully.”
