DVAC conduct raids at former DMK MLA's premises linked to cash for jobs scam invovling Ex-Minister Nehru

Chennai, Oct 29 (UNI) Coinciding with the raids at nearly 20 locations linked to senior DMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Minister K.N.Nehru in the Rs 634 cash for jobs scam, DVAC officials conducted raids at the residence of two-time former DMK MLA P.Nandhakumar from Anaikattu Assembly constituency.
Reports said, the searches were conducted at the residence ofNandhakumar at Katpadi in Vellore district, as part of its investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitments to the Municipal Administration and Water Supply (MAWS) Department.
The searches comes in the wake of wider investigation into the alleged corruption in appointments to 2,538 posts in the MAWS department during the previous DMK regime, when Nehru was the Municipal Administration and Water Supply department Minister.
The Madras High Court had cleared the decks for the DVAC to register a case and investigate the allegations while dismissing the former Minister's review plea challenging a similar order passed by the single judge.
The vigilance agency had earlier conducted searches at more than 30 locations, including Nehru’s residence in Trichy, on September 5 and reportedly seized documents and details of bank transactions. Today's raids are the second round of search operations linked to the case. The DVAC was conducting searches at over 20 locations linked to Nehru in Chennai and Tiruchirappalli, as well as at the residence of his brother K.N.Ravichandran in Chennai.
