East Delhi firing: Three held, firearms recovered

New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) The Delhi Police apprehended three persons allegedly involved in a case of firing, within 12 hours after filing the case, and also recovered firearms in this connection.
On Friday, a PCR call regarding firing of gunshots in the air by three persons was received at Police Station Vivek Vihar, East Delhi. Police reached the spot near Kasturba Underpass, where two empty shells were found on the main road.
At the site, the caller stated that a quarrel had broken out during a Ganesh Visarjan procession between his cousin and the alleged accused persons, following which aerial shots were fired. On the basis of the information, and preliminary facts, the police registered a case under relevant sections, and the Arms Act, and began the investigation.

A special team was constituted under the supervision of ACP Vivek Vihar, comprising police officials of Police Station Vivek Vihar and Special Staff, of the Shahdara District.
The team conducted sustained investigation and developed local intelligence regarding the persons involved in the incident, and soon ascertained the whereabouts of the suspected accused persons.
After coordinated efforts, the three accused persons were apprehended, identifed as 24-year-old Pratham alias Varun Bhudhiraja, 24-year-old Dhanjay Sharma alias Balak, and 20-year-old Vivek Verma alias Yash Soni.
The recovered firearms are being examined and further investigation is underway to establish their source, ownership and use in the offence.
The accused persons are being questioned.
Their previous involvement in criminal cases is also being verified, a senior police official said.
