Dimapur, Oct 9 (UNI) Four faculty members of Nagaland University have featured in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list prepared by Stanford University researchers.
Three of the university’s faculty members have also been included in the Career-Long Top 2% Scientists list, marking a significant recognition of the institution’s growing research contributions across diverse scientific disciplines, a varsity release said on Friday.
The four faculty members recognised in the latest World’s Top 2% Scientists list are Prof. Prabhakar Sharma, department of agricultural engineering and technology, Prof. Ambrish Singh, department of chemistry, Prof. Joginder Singh, department of botany and Prof. Pranav Kumar Prabhakar, department of biotechnology.
The recognition of these faculty members reflects the breadth of research being undertaken at Nagaland University, spanning environmental engineering, groundwater management, electrochemistry, materials science, microbiology, plant sciences and biotechnology.
The Stanford-based World’s Top 2% Scientists database identifies researchers based on a composite citation indicator (c-score), both with and without self-citations, along with percentile-based measures within scientific fields and sub-fields.
Researchers are classified according to the Science-Metrix classification system, covering 22 broad scientific fields and 174 sub-fields.
The list is intended to provide a standardised view of research impact based on bibliometric data rather than a single measure of academic performance.
Congratulating the faculty members, NU VC Prof. Jagadish K Patnaik said this achievement is a matter of great pride for the entire Nagaland University community and reflects the dedication, scholarly excellence and sustained research contributions of the faculty members.
He added that it also signifies the growing quality, impact and global visibility of research being undertaken at the university.
