Marathi courtroom drama ‘Kon Yashwant Pansare?’ to premiere on October 16

Mumbai, Oct 9 (UNI) A disgraced lawyer takes up the case of a missing girl and confronts a system reluctant to provide answers in Kon Yashwant Pansare?, a Marathi courtroom drama premiering on ZEE5 on October 16, 2026.
Written and directed by Anand Dilip Gokhale and produced by Manjiri Subhash Bhave, the series will present the story of the struggle between justice, power, and truth. It will witness a fierce courtroom confrontation between actors Bharat Jadhav and Pushkar Shrotri.
Adapted from the Tamil series "Sattamum Needhiyam," this investigative thriller will feature Bharat Jadhav as Yashwant Pansare and Pushkar Shrotri as public prosecutor Sarada. Shivani Rangole will be seen playing the role of Janhavi. Sharvari Jamenis, Ujjwala Jog, Vidyadhar Joshi, and Milind Pathak also play pivotal roles.
The series revolves around Yashwant Pansare, a once-powerful lawyer who, after a major professional setback, is reduced to notary practice. His life changes when Sadashiv Mapari, an elderly father frustrated by the lack of justice in the case of his missing daughter Alka, commits suicide outside the court. Disturbed by this incident, Pansare returns to the legal profession and files a public interest litigation in the case. He is joined in this struggle by young lawyer Janhavi.
What initially involves the search for a missing girl gradually becomes entangled in a web of police records, concealed evidence, questions about mental health, and political interests. The case reaches the habeas corpus hearing, where Pansare faces numerous challenges, including from public prosecutor Sarda. Revelations that emerge during the investigation change the course of the case and raise questions about the accountability of the system.
Jadhav said that the character of Yashwant Pansare appeals to him because, after struggling with failure, guilt, and self-doubt, he decides to fight for justice again. According to him, Pansare doesn't suddenly become a hero, but rather, circumstances drive him to regain his voice and embark on a path of atonement.
Shrotri said that Sarda's role is not limited to that of a lawyer opposing Pansare in court. He understands the system and its workings. The legal debate between the two reveals different perspectives on law, justice, and the system.
Rangole said that Janhavi is a fearless young lawyer who is not afraid to question old traditions and established beliefs. Her connection with Yashwant Pansare gives the story a new direction, and both challenge the system in their own ways.
Gokhale said the series is about a man who refuses to accept a case as closed just because the system has given up on finding answers. Along with the court and the investigation, Pansare's personal journey also plays a key role in the story. UNI NST CDS
