Everyone's contribution is important for cleanliness: Minister Patil

Mumbai, Apr 30 (UNI) Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Gulabrao Patil on Wednesday said that it is necessary to convince the rural areas of the state of the importance of sustainable public cleanliness along with personal cleanliness and to maintain visible sustainable cleanliness in the villages.
For this, emphasis has been placed on public participation to accelerate cleanliness in rural areas. It is necessary to manage solid waste at the public and household level properly.
As a part of this, the 'Fill the compost pit, keep your village clean' campaign will be effectively implemented in rural areas under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) Phase-2.
This campaign will be implemented from May 1 to September 15, 2025, Patil appealed to public representatives, officers, employees, villagers, self-help groups, and youth to participate in this campaign in large numbers.
Under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) Phase-2, the works of individual toilets and public toilets, solid waste and sewage management, sewage management, plastic waste management, and cow dung collection are in progress in all the villages of the state.
If a people's movement for cleanliness emerges in the rural areas of the state, these works will gain more momentum. The government has resolved to declare all the villages as open defecation free model villages and make the entire state open defecation free model villages, added Patil. UNI VKB SSP
