Fadnavis slams ‘Fake Narrative’ over Election Commission protest

Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday criticised the protest being organised against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, saying that the “fake narrative” being pushed by the protesters had already been exposed.
The protest was called by Abhijit Deepke of the Cockroach Janta Party at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Opposition groups have extended support to the agitation, while Left parties and the Aam Aadmi Party have also announced protests against Kumar in Delhi.
The developments have intensified the political campaign against the Election Commission.
Reacting to the agitation, Fadnavis said the narrative being propagated against the Election Commission had lost its credibility after the three election commissioners addressed a press conference.
“I want to say clearly that the truth has already been exposed. After all three commissioners held a press conference, the balloon of their fake narrative has burst. Despite this, they are trying to push the same narrative. However, they will not succeed in their fake narrative,” Fadnavis said.
Meanwhile, Fadnavis visited the Dharavi redevelopment project to review its progress. Speaking before the visit, he said the project would provide people with a real-time understanding of the existing situation in Dharavi and how the area would be transformed under the redevelopment plan.
“Real-time information about the project is available here. One can understand Dharavi’s history and its present condition, including how people live today,” he said.
Fadnavis said Dharavi, despite being known as a slum, is also an important economic centre with a wide range of small-scale industries.
“Dharavi has a major economic ecosystem. There are pottery units in Kumbharwada, plastic industries, food businesses and leather-related activities. A large economy operates in this area,” he said.
He added that the exhibition would provide an overview of how these economic activities and the lives of residents would be accommodated in the redeveloped Dharavi.
People will be able to see the proposed layout and understand how their lives will change, how they can run businesses from better premises and what facilities, including hospitals and religious places, will be available,” Fadnavis said.
The Chief Minister also said sample homes that would be provided to eligible residents would be displayed, allowing people to understand what the redevelopment project would offer.
“This initiative will provide answers to what exactly is going to happen under the Dharavi redevelopment project. I welcome this initiative,” Fadnavis said. UNI SP SAS
