Fadnavis visiting drought-hit farmers to assess situation: BJP Spokesperson

Mumbai, Sep 24 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is visiting drought-affected areas to interact with farmers and assess their difficulties, BJP chief spokesperson Navnath Ban said on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference at the BJP state office, Ban said drought-like conditions had been reported in 21 districts across Marathwada, Vidarbha, Solapur and north Maharashtra.
He said the Chief Minister was visiting farmers in the affected areas to understand their concerns and provide reassurance.
Ban also said the state government was expected to issue an order within the next two days outlining measures for drought-affected farmers.
Reacting to criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut, Ban accused the opposition of politicising the drought situation.
He alleged that the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government had failed to adequately address farmers' concerns.
Ban also criticised Raut's remarks concerning the Election Commission and alleged that the opposition was questioning constitutional institutions when electoral outcomes were unfavourable to it.
On the issue of elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Ban questioned the opposition's position on elections in states where Congress or other opposition parties had won.
He alleged that the opposition accepted the election process when it produced favourable results but raised objections when the BJP won.
Ban said the Election Commission had conducted elections across states under the same constitutional framework and accused the opposition of adopting what he described as a double standard. UNI SP ATP SAS

Nashik, Sep 24 (UNI) Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharne on Thursday inspected crop damage at Dhondveer Nagar in Sinnar taluka and interacted with farmers to assess the situation arising from erratic rainfall and prolonged dry spells. Bharne reviewed the damage caused to standing crops and heard farmers about their difficulties.
