Farmers, weavers in Telangana suffering under Congress rule, claims KTR

Hyderabad, Oct 1 (UNI) Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao today alleged that farmers and other sections of society were facing hardships under the Congress government in Telangana, citing inadequate power supply, delays in Rythu Bandhu payments and urea shortages.
Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said farmers from Adilabad to Alampur were seeking the BRS to fight on their behalf. He alleged that promises made by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, including the Congress’ election guarantees and various declarations for farmers, youth, BCs and SCs, had not been fulfilled.
Reacting to the Chief Minister’s recent visit to Sircilla, KTR alleged that handloom weavers were again facing difficulties, claiming that 35 weavers had died by suicide under the Congress government. He questioned the stopping of Bathukamma saree and school uniform orders and alleged that the Nethanna Bima and Mission Bhagiratha schemes had also been affected.
KTR also criticised the State government over its handling of the Kaleshwaram project and said several inquiries announced by the government had failed to produce the results claimed against the previous BRS government.
Responding to allegations concerning his business interests, KTR said he had disclosed his assets and hotel business in his election affidavit and maintained that he had started his first hotel in 2006 with money earned while working in the US. He alleged that the government was diverting public attention from its unfulfilled election promises by targeting him and the BRS.
KTR said the BRS would continue to question the government on its SC, Youth, Farmers and BC declarations and alleged that promised financial assistance and contracts had not reached the respective beneficiaries. He asserted that people had lost faith in the Congress government and said the BRS would continue to fight on behalf of farmers and other sections of society.
